It was founded in 1969 and is located in the southeast side of Springfield, Illinois, near Lake Springfield. It serves nearly 4,900 students, including about 2,000 graduate students. The degree-granting programs are offered by the four colleges: Business and Management, Education and Human Services, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Public Affairs and Administration.
